What We Thought
During the DOS days, the WordPerfect was the word processing application in vogue. In this version, the suite combines its old strengths with new applications making for quite a bundle of software for the purchase. The version 9 of WordPerfect is more user friendly than the MS Word, allowing for auto on and off for grammar checks and spell check in thirty languages. It has a dedicated HTML layout, with import, export and publication functions of excellent quality. One can even publish to Acrobat PDF which allows for savings. Quattro Pro is for the spreadsheet, and can give MS Excel a run for its money. It has a cross tabs report function, like the MS Excel Pivot, but with greater depth. It is easy to use unlike the Excel. Presentations 9 handles the business graphics function of the suite. IT is both a design and a slide presentation package, with easy import from the other Office applications. These include tables, text, bitmap imagery and other vector drawings. The database manager is absent though but in the bundle are other nifty database utilities, an address book like the MS Outlook and a card file program. There are also Visual Basic tools, and XML Project Designer plus a lot of other Corel utilities packed into the suite set. Priced at £ 190, this is good software and package for the price.
